Feed silo
Our MAFA UNIK is a Swedish-made and innovative silo available in four models for agriculture: UNS, UNIK Small, UNIK, and UNIK Big. The silo has a stable construction and is made of high-quality steel sheet coated with aluminum and zinc. This combination gives the sheet a longer durability compared to, for example, galvanized sheet metal due to the higher corrosion resistance. Since the coating contains zinc, it has a self-healing property at cut edges and scratches on the surface. The sheet has a surface that is both hard and smooth, which results in lower friction and thus safer emptying of the silo. And since the sheet is coated with aluminum and zinc, this helps to reflect heat like a mirror and gives a lower heating effect, which in turn helps to maintain good quality of the feed or grain.
Our silos are easy to manage at the end of their lifespan or during decommissioning, and since they are made of steel, they hold value and can be recycled.
The UNIK silo can be combined with our MAFA UNIK Auger Boxes for true mass-flow operation according to the First In–First Out principle. This technology preserves feed quality through minimal separation, unlike traditional emptying methods. When using a mass-flow silo, the risk of mixing old feed with new feed is minimal, allowing you to switch immediately to a different type of feed without having to empty or clean the silo in between.
Additional advantages of the UNIK Silo:
– The silo features a large cyclone with natural ventilation to prevent condensation. Different cyclone designs are available for various needs, whether handling flour-like or heavier materials, minimizing dust, and preventing attraction of birds and pests. The cyclones are both bird-proof and rain-proof to optimize feed quality.
– The UNIK Silo is designed with a steep roof angle, allowing for maximum fill and reducing empty space compared to silos with less steep roofs. A steeper roof also reduces potential snow accumulation.
– The silo is engineered for gentle and uniform emptying, achieved through its smooth interior, specialized bolt, and steep cone. The polished inner surface reduces heat radiation into the silo, which is especially important for temperature-sensitive feed.
